Restaurant, ponds & smokehouse
"Everything for the fish" is the motto at the Kulmer fish restaurant. All fish lovers will feel right at home here. There are creative, delicious dishes that are mainly cooked with the restaurant's own fish from the ponds. Regional and seasonal products refine the cuisine. From family celebrations, dinners for two, business lunches to motorcycle rides - everyone is welcome at the Kulmer!
The smokehouse:
Back then, it all started with a few fish ponds and a self-built smoking oven. Then, as now, the trout were smoked and cooked in the restaurant. Today, production goes far beyond trout and salmon and the company is known for its flexibility and regionality in the Austrian trade.
The pond facilities:
In the fish farm, the fish are reared in crystal-clear mountain water from the Almenland nature park until they are ready to eat. Franz Kulmer personally looks after his fish with a lot of love.
Down-to-earth gourmet restaurant in Haslau
In the family home built in 1722, the craft of cooking is passed down from generation to generation and you are treated to a mixture of traditional Kulmer recipes and Far Eastern fish specialties. From family celebrations, dinners for two, business lunches and dinners, to drive-throughs on motorcycles or bicycles: the Kulmers welcome anyone in search of good fish. Four cozy rooms are available for overnight stays in the Bürgermeisterhaus.
The fish smokehouse was opened in 2009 and has an area of approx. 3,000m². With just 35 employees, it processes around 800 tons of raw fish, trout, char, salmon trout, salmon, catfish and carp according to the highest purity standards.
