Climbing enthusiasts will also find a wide range of activities in the Almenland nature park:

You can visit the popular Franz Scheikl via ferrata, which leads to the Hochlantsch summit, or try out your climbing skills in the newly designed climbing hall/climbing wall in Mixnitz. A freely accessible climbing garden in the Klammgraben in Breitenau am Hochlantsch or the "Brunntal" next to the Bärenschützklamm gorge also await climbers. Furthermore, the Röthelsteinthe Rattengrad, the "Breite Wand"and Burgstall can be climbed.

If you are looking for a challenge on the rocks in winter too, then ice climbing is just the thing for you. The 23 meter high Alice" icefall can be climbed in the Tiefenbachgraben in Breitenau am Hochlantsch.

Franz Scheikl via ferrata

This well-known climb leads up to the Hochlantsch summit with a difficulty level of A/B, two more difficult sections with C/D, the difficult exit ridge can be bypassed. Since the last renovation in 2017, the climb can also be tackled by sporty families.

Climbing hall in Mixnitz

In Mixnitz, right next to the Naturwelten Steiermarka large, modern climbing area has been created by the Mixnitz Alpine Club. Here you can put your climbing skills to the test in different variations and difficulty levels.

The key for the climbing hall is available in the café, where you also pay the entrance fee.

Prices & opening hours:

  • € 7,00 for adults
  • € 3,00 for children (up to 12 years)
  • € 5.00 for members of the Mixnitz section of the Alpine Club
  • Climbing is possible daily from 08.00 am
