Spring vacation in Styria
Nature is slowly awakening from its winter slumber, while the last remnants of snow are still melting away on the mountain pastures and making way for colorful crocuses, a variety of different plants are already blooming in the valleys.
A spring vacation in the Almenland Nature Park has so much to offer. Colorful nature, warming rays of sunshine and spring-fresh cuisine await you - so pack your bags and set off on an alpine-fresh vacation in Austria!

The Teichalm and the Sommeralm form the heart of the Almenland Nature Park and are perfect for leisurely hikes from alpine pasture to alpine pasture. There are also spectacular gorges and water-bearing ravines. From the lovely Teichalm with its lake and high moorland, the route leads up to the highest panoramic mountain in the Grazer Bergland, the Hochlantsch. The small pilgrimage church of Schüsserlbrunn, which was voted the most beautiful excursion destination in Styria in 2018, is located directly on the Hochlantsch rock. The Raabklamm g orge is Austria's longest gorge and a Natura 2000 protected area.

Yellow-green spring at the dandelion festival
The dandelion blossom from mid-April is so intense and dominant in the Almenland valleys that beekeepers offer their own dandelion honey. In the lush yellow flowering meadows, gnarled trees with broad branches invite you to enjoy a picnic. picnic in their shade. Our innkeepers provide the right culinary offerings, offering light, spring-fresh dishes with lots of herbs at this time of year - to enjoy on site, at a picnic or at home!
A tribute to this versatile plant are the Dandelion Festivalwhich are celebrated from May 01 to 11, 2025. During this time, the spring-fresh culinary delights at our innkeepers with a colorful round of events. Traditional Easter festival in the nature park Almenland
Wouldn't you like to celebrate a truly traditional Easter once again? There are few places better suited to this than the Almenland nature park.
Holy Week begins with the consecration of palms in churches, where the colorful "palm bushes", made from palm catkins, herbs and colorful ribbons, are blessed. The Easter liturgy continues with the "Mass of the Lord's Supper" on Maundy Thursday, the veneration of the cross with the great prayer of intercession on Good Friday and, as a highlight, the great celebration of the resurrection on Easter night in numerous churches churches in the region.
These days are accompanied by regional customs: there are ratchet-children parade through the village, consecrated fire is brought into the houses and on Easter night there are joyful celebrations around the Easter fires. The days leading up to Easter are also used for coloring Easter eggs and shopping for specialties - from ham to Easter bread - from the farmers. The food and drink is then enjoyed at the big Easter snack, immediately after the consecration of the meat on Holy Saturday. And on Easter Sunday, everyone looks forward to the joyful search for the hidden Easter nests!
Hiking in the nature park Almenland
While everything is already beginning to blossom in the valley, the last remnants of snow from last winter are still melting on the mountain pastures, making way for colorful crocus meadows. The change of season also marks the start of the new hiking season. The region around the Teichalm and the Sommeralm is perfect for a wide variety of hiking tours during your vacation - always with a view far out into the countryside. Enjoy the landscape and the fresh alpine air on a walk or a hike lasting several hours. Numerous huts invite you to stop for a bite to eat.
There is something for everyone on the tours with different levels of difficulty - whether you want to take a leisurely hike with the family or climb one peak after another. Take a short walk along the moorland trail on the Teichalm, hike on the Sommeralm or hike around the nature park in several stages.
