Information on energy subsidies
Overview of current subsidies
With investment subsidies against the increase in energy costs!
There are currently more federal and state subsidies available than ever before. In order to find the best possible combination of subsidies (many federal and state subsidies can be combined), it is advisable to obtain detailed information in advance and ideally seek product-neutral energy advice. The examples listed here mainly apply to private individuals, but there are also high subsidies for agriculture and industry.
The following websites provide information on interesting subsidies in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency on topics such as heating replacement, thermal refurbishment, photovoltaics, electricity storage or electric cars:
Energy advice and subsidies from the province of Styria
An energy consultation protocol or an energy certificate for the building is a prerequisite for many subsidies. Register quickly for a consultation, this can also be done by telephone. Further details on the various energy consultations, a list of energy consultants, guides and brochures as well as the many subsidies from the Province of Styria (environmental subsidies, minor renovation - 15%, comprehensive energy-efficient renovation - 30%, etc.) can be found directly at www.wohnbau.steiermark.at - the replacement of existing biomass heating systems can also be subsidized here !
Out of oil and gas - replacing fossil fuel boilers
Up to 75% funding is available for switching from fossil-fuelled space heating systems to sustainable heating systems. This includes oil, gas and coal boilers and purely electric heating systems. Funding is available for services provided from 01.01.2023. Further information at www.raus-aus-oel.at.
Measures for "Getting out of oil and gas" (funding max. 75%) - Switch to: | |

Bonus for overall renovation concept | 500€ |
Solar bonus with simultaneous installation of a solar thermal system (at least 6 m² collector area) and replacement of the heating system | 2.500€ |
Clean heating for all 2024
This subsidy scheme is intended for the replacement of fossil fuel boilers for low-income households. It is VERY important to register in advance at www.sauberheizen.at and follow the procedure! The first proof required to qualify for the subsidy is either receipt of social assistance, housing benefit or a GIS exemption. You can go directly to the online application via the QR code:
Renovation bonus 2024
Funding is available for thermal renovations in private residential buildings that are more than 15 years old. Eligible for funding are comprehensive refurbishments to the klimaaktiv standard or good standard as well as partial refurbishments that lead to a reduction in heating requirements of at least 40%. In addition, an application can also be submitted for individual building component renovations (window replacement, top floor ceiling, etc.). Further information can be found at www.sanierungsbonus.at.
Measures | Promotion (max. 50%) | When using renewable raw materials (min. 25%) |
Renovation of individual building components (only one measure can be funded) Certain insulation thicknesses or U-values must be achieved | 9.000€ | 13.500€ |
Partial refurbishment 40% - reduction of the spec. HWB Ref, RK by at least 40 | 18.000€ | 27.000€ |
Comprehensive refurbishment "good standard" - reduction of the spec. HWB Ref, RK to max. 56.44 kWh/m2a with an A/V ratio2) ≥ 0.8 or max. 26.86 kWh/m2a with an A/V ratio ≤ 0.2 | 27.000€ | 40.500€ |
Comprehensive refurbishment "klimaaktiv" - reduction of the spec. HWB Ref, RK to max. 44 kWh/m2a with an A/V ratio2) ≥ 0.8 or max. 28 kWh/m2a with an A/V ratio ≤ 0.2 | 42.000€ | 63.000€ |
Surcharge options | |
Bonus for overall renovation concept | 500€ |
Photovoltaics and electricity storage
You can find the right subsidy for your photovoltaic system and/or electricity storage system for new construction or expansion in the "SonnenKlar Förderkompass" from PV Austria at https://pvaustria.at/foerderungen/.
E-mobility 2024
Funding is available for e-cars (up to €5,000), e-two-wheelers (up to €2,300) and e-charging infrastructure (wallboxes or smart charging cables). You can find out what options are available for private individuals and companies at www.umweltfoerderung.at.

Apply for a metering point designation
A ZP number from the grid operator is required for the feed-in of renewable energy systems (e.g. photovoltaics). In our area, this is usually Energie Netze Steiermark GmbH. You can apply for a ZP number for your own electricity connection at the following link:
