Pilgrimage route Passail

Circular trail with a view and snack

The municipal circular route leads along the "Hochweg" through the districts of Auen, Krammersdorf and Hohenau, returning via Haufenreith. A somewhat longer walk that leads past the small pilgrimage chapel "Kleinheilbrunn". The way back offers views from the Schöckl to the Rote Wand and the Passailer fish ponds are a wonderful resting place.

The origin of "Kleinheilbrunn" goes back to a legend: a farmer erected a picture of the Virgin Mary out of gratitude for a serious accident he had survived. One day the picture disappeared and was found in the exact spot where the chapel stands today. The picture was brought back, disappeared again and was found again in the same place. Now the farmer understood the sign and built the first chapel here in 1672, which was completed in its present form in 1824. A small spring springs from the place where the image of the Virgin Mary was found and is said to have a healing effect on eye complaints.
