Nordic walking and running routes

Our hiking trails and footpaths also invite you to go running or Nordic walking. In almost all villages, signposted routes await athletes who want to experience the nature park in this way.

Nordic Walking

Kathrein/Offenegg

  • Church circular hiking trail directly in the village of St. Kathrein (approx. 2 km),
  • Circular route from the village square to GH Braunhof (approx. 4 km) or straight on to Gschaid (approx. 8 km)
  • St. Kathrein - Brandlucken circular route via Schönes Kreuz, Koarlsplatz or the Karl Schwaiger Weg (all approx. 12 km)

Breitenau/Hochlantsch

  • Center of St. Jakob - GH Hofbauer - Alois Schwach-Siedlung, approx. 2.4 km 
  • St. Jakob village center - St. Erhard - junction Zitonergraben, approx. 10.6 km
  • St. Jakob village center - Knollgraben - Eibeggsattel, approx. 4.1 km

Fladnitz/Teichalm

  • Lake loop, approx. 3.1 km
  • Zechnermoor circuit, approx. 9.1 km
  • Bergler-Sommeralm loop, approx. 16.8 km
  • Church tower tour in Fladnitz, approx. 10 km

Running

For all those for whom hiking is too slow, there are also running routes in the nature park Almenland. From short routes with little incline to half marathons, there is a wide selection for beginners to professionals.

Bathing lake circuit, Passail

As the name suggests, this leisurely running route leads to Passailer Badesee. The trail runs on ash pavement throughout and is therefore also perfect as a walking trail for families.

Lindenberg circuit, Passail

The Lindenberg is known for its beautiful view, but before you can enjoy it, there are a few meters of altitude to overcome. The route is run on asphalt throughout and is easy to run except for the climb up the Lindenberg.

This short loop is perfect if you don't have much time. The running route leads past the Passail fish ponds to the Moarhofhechtl and from there back to the center of Passail.

The route starts in Passail, from where it runs along the Raab to the former mining village of Arzberg. Return via the Hundsberg, past the cemetery and the market square back to the starting point.

In a figure-of-8 format, you run once around Passail and then around the Hundsberg. This easy route is run exclusively on asphalt.

The leisurely jogging or walking route always leads along side roads or footpaths in the Passail district of Hart. The gentle incline makes this route perfect for beginners.

Pass the Passail fish ponds on the way to Haufenreith. The way back is via the so-called Hochweg, which offers all runners a great view over the Passailer Kessel.

An easy loop with only a few climbs. The start is in Passail, the highest point of the route is on the Wiedenberg, where you are rewarded with a fantastic view.

This somewhat more challenging running route starts in Passail, leads via Arzberg along the Griasbochweg to Fladnitz an der Teichalm. It continues past the golf course back to the starting point in Passail.

This route is more for trained runners, as there are a few meters of altitude to conquer. From Passail to Hohenau, the route is mainly on asphalt, after which it continues on forest paths. The tour is also well suited as a hike if you can put up with the asphalt paths.

Ambitious runners are in just the right place on this tour. Starting from Passail, the 1,300-metre-high Buchkogel is climbed, so there are plenty of ascents to conquer. Most of the running is on natural paths.

Elmer Half Marathon, Passail

The half marathon is mostly run on asphalt. With a few climbs, this route is also for experienced runners. From Passail it goes in a wide arc via Arzberg to Fladnitz an der Teichalm. in the direction of Fladnitz an der Teichalm. We return to the starting point in Passail via Tober and the Lindenbergweg.
