Energy partnership in the region

The Almenland Nature Park and Energie Steiermark sign the climate partner agreement!

With the official signing of a cooperation agreement, the Almenland Nature Park and Energie Steiermark have been entering into a new, sustainable partnership since 2016. The goal of the 6 municipalities and 15 organizations together with the state energy company: To jointly make the Almo region, which was founded in 1995, completely free of CO2 emissions in the coming years.

Aims of the partnership

The top priority of this agreement is to create a model region for CO2-reduced or CO2-neutral economic activity. It is important to secure the energy supply for agricultural and tourism businesses as well as the industry in the region.

The plan is to implement innovative energy projects that will benefit companies and households in Almenland and ensure the supply of certified, regional natural electricity by 2020. Sustainable mobility services will also be implemented. Both partners are committed to focusing on the sustainable development of value creation in the region. This is not only about the economic benefits for the partners and the local population, but above all about rural development from an ecological perspective. The design and appearance of the projects should blend into the landscape in an authentic and recognizable way. The nature park Almenland is to become a model region in terms of energy and climate protection. To this end, structural framework conditions are being created that will also have a long-term effect in the region.

The partners to the agreement are committed to the goal of long-term cooperation with regard to the further development of the " Almenland Nature Park" project that is beneficial to all contracting parties. The basis is the positioning of the partners as companies that fulfill their respective responsibilities for the ecological development of rural areas. A key factor for entering into the cooperation in question is the conviction to pursue common goals based on shared values: Regionality of value creation, fairness towards partners and customers as well as the endeavor to make a joint contribution to a better life in a "green world".

The 3 pillars of partnership

The achievement of objectives is based on three jointly developed pillars that form the basis for implementation:

  • Supply of 100 % certified regional natural electricity - UZ 46
  • Communication partnership - joint appearances in the areas of tourism and marketing
  • Planning and implementation of projects in the fields of renewable energies, energy efficiency, energy-related services and sustainable mobility services

Partnership with Raiffeisenbank

With the signing of the sponsorship agreement, the partnership between the Raiffeisen banks in the region and the nature park Almenland was sealed for a further three years.

For many years, the region has enjoyed a partnership with the local Raiffeisen banks, which are the "local providers of banking services". The Almenland voucher, which has been in existence since 2004, is closely linked to them. For this successful model to work, a great deal of effort is required from all employees, for which we would like to express our sincere thanks. Thanks to the Leader Initiative, the Almenland Nature Park is an up-and-coming region with many model businesses and flagships. Funding has brought a high level of added value to our region and triggered major investments. The regional Raiffeisen banks also benefit from this. The regional managers are therefore all the more pleased that they were able to secure another 3-year sponsorship agreement in August 2023. The managers of the Raiffeisen banks in Passail and Weiz-Anger met with representatives of the Almenland region to sign the contract at Gasthaus Unterberger.
