City with a special flair
Frohnleiten impresses from afar with its beautiful townscape. The town is located around 30 kilometers north of Graz and nestles in a loop of the Mur. In the town center, the traffic-calmed main square with its guest gardens and stores invites you to take a stroll and stop for a bite to eat. In summer, this square is also a popular venue for concerts and theater performances. Also worth seeing is the parish church, the former church of the Servite monastery, which is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The church tower was not rebuilt after a fire in the 18th century.
The magnificent parks along the Mur are perfect for a walk, and the excursion destinations in the surrounding area (e.g. Rabenstein Castle high above the Mur) are well worth a visit!
