The state capital

Graz, the capital of Styria, is the third largest city in Austria after Vienna and Linz with a population of around 660,000. Imperial city, Renaissance gem, city of science and modern architecture, cultural capital... Graz is versatile!

The old town is one of the most beautiful in Europe and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, Graz not only has a historic city center, but also many architecturally interesting, modern buildings. In 2012, Graz was therefore awarded the title "City of Design". Many of the new buildings date back to 2003, when Graz was "European Capital of Culture". The flair of the old town is best enjoyed in a restaurant garden.

Its reputation as a city of culture is underpinned by a large number of museums and exhibitions:

Landeszeughaus: the largest historical armory in the world with more than 32,000 authentic pieces of war equipment - armor, shields, lances, swords!

Natural History Museum:the new, ultra-modern museum gives an exciting impression of the formation of the earth - and what can be discovered on our doorstep.

Kunsthaus: the "friendly alien" enriches the cityscape of Graz with its extraordinary architecture alone, showing national and international contemporary art.

Eggenberg Palace: Graz's city palace with its large park and various gardens is a fascinating work of art. It houses valuable collections from the Universal Museum and an archaeology museum, where you can also find the "Strettweg Cult Chariot".

Graz is not only a city of culture, but with its boutiques, stores and shopping malls invites you to stroll and store. shopping inviting.
