Advent in the Almenland

When the first candle burns on the Advent wreath and the year draws to a close, the most atmospheric time in Almenland begins. Advent is a time of reflection and preparation for Christmas. In addition to idyllic Christmas markets and traditional events, there is the church preparation time with the Advent wreath blessings and the Rorarten. The highlight and finale are the Nativity celebrations and Christmas Eve masses.

Advent traditions begin with the Krampus processions and end with the arrival of the light of peace in the individual villages. Church concerts, candlelight walks and the tower blowing before mass are just as much a part of traditional Advent events as the life-size nativity scenes in the individual villages.

In harmony with church life, the traditional events create an atmospheric setting for a joyfully contemplative Advent.
