Welcome to the Rechberg!
Date: April 25 to 27, 2025
The only European Mountain Championship race in Austria on the Rechberg is taking place again!
The race also counts towards the Austrian national mountain championship, as well as the Slovenian and Slovakian national championships. A new organization team has big plans - both for the riders and the fans.
The track will be equipped with the latest technology, a livestream is planned that will go out into the whole world, as well as video walls along the track.
A specially founded Rechbergrennen GmbH with the managing directors Mario Klammer, Peter Eibisberger and Christian Ferstl takes care of the continuation of the legendary Rechbergrennen. They are all successful entrepreneurs and racing drivers from Styria and know what a mammoth task they are tackling.
The ultimate hillclimb race on the Rechberg will once again be held as part of the FIA European Hillclimb Championship (modern & historic). In addition, other championships such as the Austrian Hillclimb Championship and othernational championships, which are still being negotiated, will also be contested.

Sustainability at the Rechbergrennen
The organizing committee of the Rechberg Race thinks and acts sustainably!
The 2023 event was evaluated by a team of sustainability experts, an analysis was prepared and a corresponding report was established. Based on the analysis and in cooperation with the Austrian Motorsport Federation (AMF), environmental protection ideas will be promoted as extensively as possible in the long term and appropriate measures implemented.
The Rechberg Race, which has been held on the Rechberg in the Almenland Nature Park region since 1972 and is one of the most important motorsport events in Austria, has been breaking new ground since 2023.
The sustainability findings:
- The total greenhouse gas emissions of the event amount to approx. 608 tons of CO2e; this corresponds to the average annual emissions of around 68 Austrian inhabitants
- Der „aktive Rennbetrieb“ trägt mit ca. 10,6to CO2e nur unwesentlich (< 2%) zur Gesamt – Treibhausgasemission der Veranstaltung bei
- The largest single share, approx. 64% or 384 tons of CO2e, is accounted for by spectator travel and catering, whereby the average CO2e footprint of 27.7 kg is only approx. 10% above the daily average value in Austria (overnight stays and catering for spectators are only taken into account as part of the event and not over the entire day; overall, a spectator on race day has a higher footprint than the annual average).
- The remaining approx. 214 tons of CO2e are attributable to the logistics of employees and participants
2024 - first measures
Based on this analysis, the organizing committee will take a first step towards active CO2 binding in 2024:
- A regional tree-planting campaign is aimed at binding the direct emissions from "active racing operations". The organizing committee will purchase or provide 1,000 seedlings for various trees (larch, fir, beech, etc. according to the recommendation of the Chamber of Forestry) and distribute them to private individuals from the "Rechberg" catchment area and the municipalities of Fladnitz a.d. Teichalm and Semriach. The CO2e emissions of approx. 10.6 tons of CO2e per year attributable to "active racing operations" are bound by this.
