From the parish church to the pilgrimage church
This path connects the two churches in the municipality of Pernegg: the Frauenkirche, a well-known pilgrimage church, and the parish church of St. Maximilian.
The municipality of Pernegg is located directly on the River Mur, 10 km south of Bruck an der Mur and 40 km north of Graz. Pernegg is part of the Mur Cycle Path R2 and the Drachentour mountain bike route, making it a mecca for cyclists. Thanks to the Pernegg and Mixnitz railroad stations on the Südbahn line, the municipality of Pernegg is the gateway to Almenland.
This tour through the districts of Kirchdorf and Pernegg connects the two churches that dominate the townscape: The "Frauenkirche" in Pernegg is a well-known pilgrimage church with a Baroque interior, while the parish church on Kirchhügel in Kirchdorf is dedicated to St. Maximilian and is a late Gothic complex with a defensive tower. Along the way, you will also find the Verbund show turbine, which can also be viewed from the outside through the glass shoring.
