Hike from Nechnitz
Via the wooden sculpture trail up to the Gschaid-Nock and on to the Gerler cross: a varied hiking trail with a summit climb and refreshment stops.
Wood carving with a chainsaw is the hobby of Erich Haider-Harrer, who is also an innkeeper and farmer on the Nechnitz, the high plateau in the municipality of Fladnitz an der Teichalm. With his wooden figures, mainly local forest animals, he has now created a wonderful path from the Nechnitz up almost to the Gschaid Nock summit. The trail starts directly at Gasthof Haider. Over 45 different wooden figures, benches, an energy fountain and explanatory boards accompany the 1.5 km trail up to the summit. A wonderful panoramic view awaits you there. The mountains can be easily identified with the help of the large display board. The rest of the trail, now already over alpine pastures, leads beyond the Wildkogel to the Gerler cross. There the Gerlerkogel hut awaits hungry and thirsty hikers. The way back then leads past the Gerler cross and the hamlet of Hintereben with its farmsteads back to the Nechnitz.
