Over the cozy alpine pasture into the rock face
The Rote Wand is a southeast-facing rocky outcrop, the red color of the rock comes from inclusions of red-colored limestone and can best be admired in the morning sun. The majestic rock is home to chamois and ibex, which, with a bit of luck, can be seen along the way. In the spring, the rare and protected St. Peter's Wort also blooms here.
The hike up to the gentle Tyrnaueralm starts directly at the Teichalmsee. The circular trail first leads through the forest up to the Tyrnaueralm hut. Here you immediately get a wonderful view of the Rote Wand and the alpine landscape. The trail continues slightly uphill and finally leads slightly over a stony path with scree to the summit cross on the Rote Wand. The cozy rest area invites you to take a break with a panoramic view of the alpine pastures. The same path then leads back to the Tyrnaueralm hut, where you can stop for a bite to eat after the strenuous hike. Afterwards, it is a leisurely walk along the forest road (the "Zechnermoar-Weg") back to the Teichalm. After a strenuous hike, you can cool your feet in the lake or on the pedal boat at Teichalmsee. Several innkeepers welcome hikers to the Teichalm.
The trail is suitable for the whole family, but is more alpine towards the end, especially towards the summit cross. Sure-footedness and good footwear are essential here!
