For all leisurely hikers

An uncomplicated hike around the Nechnitz plateau - with views of the Rote Wand, the Mur valley and from the Schöckl to eastern Styria.

The tour starts on the Nechnitz, a plateau between the Passailer Kessel and the Teichalm. On the Nechnitz there is the Frankenhof and Gasthof Haider are two very cozy establishments with good food for refreshments - before or after the tour. From the Nechnitz, the easy forest path leads counter-clockwise almost all the way out to the Rechberg. Then turn left uphill and past a few farmsteads towards Sulberg. This is now the steepest part of the hike. You should definitely make the short detour up to the Sulbergkreuz, as there is a lovely place to rest or take a snack with a truly wonderful 360 degree view! The route continues along forest and country roads through several hamlets with farmsteads and pastures back to the Nechnitz.

The trail can also be walked from Rechberg (parking lot at GH Brandhof), it is then about 3 kilometers longer.

Start/finish: Nechnitz
