The path of 100,000 steps

This stage hiking trail is an idea of the Catholic Men's Movement Passail and was also planned and implemented by them.

The six sections are designed in such a way that there is an opportunity to stop for refreshments or an overnight stay after each day's stage. The stages mainly run along designated Alpine Club trails and are also marked with their own signposts.

The small panels represent the colors of the hiked communities of Fladnitz an der Teichalm (gold), Passail (blue) and St. Kathrein am Offenegg (red).

The trail starts in Arzberg, leads up to the Schöckl and on to the Rechberg. From there it goes over the Nechnitz up to the Teichalm, over the Osser up to the Sommeralm and over the Brandlucken to St. Kathrein am Offenegg. The last two stages then lead over the Patscha down into the Weizklamm gorge before returning to Arzberg via the Gösser and the Große Raabklamm gorge.

The first stage is the "royal tour" up to the Schöckel summit, but it is worth the climb with its magnificent views, first into the Passailer Kessel and then as far as Graz and the Mur Valley. There is a wide range of refreshment stops and sports facilities at the summit.

The 2nd stage leads gently from the foot of the Schöckel over the Rechberg to the Nechnitz plateau, which lies exactly between the Rote Wand and the Schöckel. There are good places to stop for refreshments and the wooden sculpture trail to Gschaid-Nock.

The 3rd stage begins with the wooden sculpture trail on Nechnitz, then it's a gentle ascent to the Teichalm. The highlight is the Osser summit with its magnificent view over the alpine pastures.

The 4th stage leads over the beautiful Sommeralm with the windmill and the view from the Plankogel. The Huabn Theater and refreshment stops await on the Brandlucken and the flower village of St. Kathrein/Offenegg at the end of the tour.

This 5th stage leads through the beautiful flower village of St. Kathrein am Offenegg out to the Patscha saddle, which is known above all for its magnificent 3-church view from the Passailer Kessel over the Sommeralm back to St. Kathrein.

The highlights of stage 6 are the many beautiful views down to Passail, but also towards Weiz, and above all the last section of the route, which leads through the Große Raabklamm gorge with its fantastic flora and fauna.
