Ice climbing - for beginners & advanced climbers

If you are looking for a challenge on the rocks in winter, ice climbing is just the thing for you. A hot tip for exciting ice climbing for beginners and advanced climbers is the Tiefenbachgraben in Breitenau am Hochlantsch. A 25-minute ascent leads to the 23 m high "Alice" icefall (difficulty around WI 4). A wooden scaffolding has been erected under the waterfall to support the ice, so it cannot collapse. As the water can be diverted, the icefall can also withstand periods of heat.

There is another 18 m high ice pillar for learning the basic techniques, and there are also several bouldering options.

Try this trend sport under the supervision of a mountain guide. Individual guided tours and courses available on request.
