Awareness of the Alpine Pasture

At the Almenland Nature Park, we Almenland hard to ensure a harmonious relationship between alpine farmers and the tourism industry. Especially in the wake of last year’s “cow ruling,” we appeal to the sense of responsibility of every single alpine farmer. The short film “Awareness of the Alpine Pastures” shows what matters most to us.

Hiking is what our guests love!

The main activity in the Almenland Nature Park Almenland definitely hiking across rolling hills and lush green meadows, up to the mountain peaks, or through rugged gorges and rocky terrain. That’s why there are also numerous guided hikes and events centered around this theme.

Hiking days on holidays are especially popular, such as the well-loved Maiwipfel Hike in Koglhof, the Mühlental Hiking Day in St. Kathrein am Offenegg, or the Vogelbeer Hiking Day on National Day in St. Kathrein am Offenegg. A special highlight is the 24-hour or 12-hour hike in Breitenau am Hochlantsch. Here, guests from near and far hike for 12 or 24 hours—without sleep, but with breaks and refreshments.

To keep our nature park looking the way it does and to ensure that hikers can enjoy the magnificent views, we rely on our farmers and the animals that maintain our landscape. That’s why we hold the annual“Styrian Alpine Pastures Day.” Everyone is invited to come and help with the “Schwenden.”
