The SAM shared taxi is a micro-public-transport system that supplements the existing public transportation options in the Almenland Nature Park. It is available seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Rides can be booked in advance or on the spot; for on-the-spot bookings, the maximum wait time is one hour. Wo kann ich mein Auto parken und gibt es kostenlose Parkplätze?

Yes, there are free parking spaces at Teichalm, right on Lake Teichalm. This is also the starting point for many hikes. In Mixnitz, there are paid parking spaces that serve as the starting point for the popular Bärenschützklamm hike. You can find more information about the paid parking spaces here. There are also paid parking lots at the Schöckl and in Breitenau near Zirbisegger, each of which also serves as a starting point for hikes. Almenland Getting There / Public Transportation / SAM

Q: Ist das Klimaticket oder das Freizeitticket Steiermark im Almenland gültig?

The Klimaticket Austria and the Klimaticket Styria are Almenland on all public transportation within the Almenland Nature Park. The Styria Leisure Ticket is valid in the Almenland Nature Park Almenland —that is, on Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays.

The Almenland Nature Park Almenland about 50 km north of Graz and about 180 km southwest of Vienna. To get there from Vienna, take the Semmering (S6) or the Wechsel (A2); from Linz and Salzburg, take the Phyrnautobahn (A9); and from Klagenfurt, take the Pack (A2).

The nearest train stations are Mixnitz, Weiz, Frohnleiten, and Bruck an der Mur. The nearest airports are Graz and Vienna.

The shared taxi runs 7 days a week, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., in partnership with regional taxi providers at affordable prices. SAM complements the existing public transit system and takes you from stop to stop.

How does that work?

Taxi rides can be booked in advance or taken on the spot. For on-the-spot rides, the maximum wait time is one hour. The shared taxi picks up passengers at the nearest stop (marked with a SAM sign), which must be specified when placing the order.

How do I find my SAM breakpoint?

When booking a ride, you must specify the SAM stop. You can find this information either on-site at the SAM information board or online at sam.oststeiermark.at

You can either register on this website or “Enter a trip as a guest.” After that, you can enter your desired location or address in the route planner, and the stop will be displayed.

How much does the SAM shared taxi cost?

The exact cost depends on the number of passengers and the number of kilometers traveled. You can ask about the price when you book your ride or contact the information hotline beforehand:

If you don't want to give up the flexibility of a car during your vacation but still want to do your part for the environment, rent one of the three electric cars available Almenland in the Almenland Nature Park region.

A VW e-Golf named “HANS” and a Ford Explorer named “REINI” are available at the parking deck in Passail for anyone interested and can be rented through the Ever-Green e-car-sharing platform. Where can I park my car—and are there any free parking spots?

There are numerous parking spaces—some paid, some free—throughout the Almenland Nature Park. Of course, this depends on where you’re spending your vacation or where you’re starting your hiking or biking tour. For parking near your lodging, please contact the lodging operator directly.

Parking at Teichalm:
There is free parking right by Lake Teichalm. This is also the starting point for many hikes.

Parking at the Sommeralm:
There is free parking right next to the wind turbine at the Sommeralm. This is an ideal starting point for a hike to the Plankogel, the Siebenkögel Loop Trail, or the Dreiwetterkreuze.

Parking at the Bärenschützklamm:
In Mixnitz, there are paid parking lots that serve as the starting point for the popular Bärenschützklamm hike. You can find all the information about the hike and the parking lots here.

Parking at the Schöckl:
If you’d like to hike up the Schöckl, use the paid parking lots right at the Schöcklkreuz. You can find all the information about the hike here.

Parking at Zirbisegger in Breitenau am Hochlantsch:
The parking lot atZirbisegger requires a fee and also serves as a starting point for hikes and climbing routes.
