A long hike through the alpine pastures!
This is the Grand Alpine Loop, which leads from Passail to the Teichalm and on to the Sommeralm. The return trip to Passail then goes via the Ochsenhalt and along the Raab River.
This day hike leads from the valley basin right into the heart of the nature park—the Teich and Sommeralm. Shortly after setting out, you’ll reach the romantic Lindenberg Church, which offers a beautiful view over the Passailer Kessel. Passing by the KreinerAlmenland Apiary , the trail leads over the Buchkogeln up to the Teichalm, before the steep ascent through the forest up to the Osser awaits. The view from the Osser summit cross stretches across the Teichalmsee, the Hochlantsch, and the Rote Wand .
Now comes what is probably the most beautiful stretch of the hike: With stunning views all along the way, you’ll hike along the mountain ridge on soft alpine meadows to the Bründlalm, with its distinctive three weather crosses. Now the trail descends to the Ochsenhalt, known for its abundance of rare native orchids, which bloom here in June and are strictly protected. The rest of the way back to Passail also runs for a stretch along the Raab River, which has its source a few kilometers upstream.
