Almenland Rules of Conduct / Biking / Safety

The Almenland Nature Park Almenland ideal conditions for unforgettable bike rides. To ensure that this unique natural environment is preserved and that cyclists, hikers, landowners, and the agricultural and forestry sectors can all share the nature park, we ask that you observe the following rules of conduct.

By showing consideration for one another and acting responsibly, you are making an important contribution to the protection of our natural and cultural landscapes.

Pedestrians have the right of way: we show consideration and are friendly toward pedestrians and hikers, and when we encounter them, we make our presence known by making a sound
Respect for nature: We leave no trash behind and avoid unnecessary noise; out of consideration for wildlife, we only go mountain biking in broad daylight.
Ride only on trails: we never ride off marked roads and trails
Drive with caution: We maintain a controlled speed and are always ready to brake; we anticipate oncoming traffic and therefore drive with caution.
Never ride without a helmet: as a rule, we always wear helmets—for our own safety
Follow the rules: We also obey traffic laws when riding on trails; as mountain bikers, we only use marked trails and observe riding restrictions (logging operations!).
Grazing livestock: We approach the grazing livestock at a walking pace, thereby preventing the animals from fleeing or panicking.
Use only bikes that are in perfect working order: we inspect and maintain our bikes regularly
Bring an emergency kit: a repair kit and first-aid supplies are often helpful
Accurate self-assessment: We don't push ourselves too hard, either in terms of riding technique or physical fitness.
Don't leave any traces behind in nature.
Plan your trip carefully and find out about the route, weather, and difficulty level.

The Right Equipment

Good preparation is the key to a safe and relaxing bike ride. The weather in the Almenland Nature Park Almenland change quickly, and even minor technical problems can often be fixed right away with the right equipment.

To ensure a safe trip, we recommend the following equipment:

- Bicycle helmet

- Provisions

- Knee or elbow pads (depending on the tour)

Am I allowed to Almenland my bike on all the trails in the Almenland Nature Park?

No. Please use only marked and authorized bike trails. Cycling on hiking trails, meadows, pastures, or closed forest roads is not permitted.

Why should I only drive during daylight hours?

Many wild animals are particularly active in the early morning hours and at dawn. Riding during these times can significantly disturb the animals. Out of consideration for wildlife, we therefore recommend that you go on bike rides only during daylight hours.

What should you keep in mind when encountering grazing livestock?

Drive slowly, keep a safe distance, and do not startle the animals. Be sure to close any pasture gates carefully after passing through, and follow any on-site instructions as needed.

What should I keep in mind when driving on forest roads?

Forest roads are not only used for recreation; they are also work areas for the forestry industry. Always be prepared for timber transport, heavy equipment, loose material, or oncoming traffic, and drive with extra caution.
