Ice Climbing in Breitenau/H.

For those looking for a challenge on the rock even in winter, ice climbing is the perfect activity. A top recommendation for exciting ice climbing for beginners and advanced climbers alike is the Tiefenbachgraben in Breitenau am Hochlantsch. A 25-minute approach leads to the 23-meter-high icefall “Alice” ( difficulty around WI 4). A wooden framework has been erected beneath the waterfall to support the ice, preventing it from collapsing. Since the water can be diverted, the icefall survives even during warm spells.

There is another 18-meter-high ice pillar for learning the basic techniques, and there are also several bouldering options.
