Schüsserlbrunn Pilgrimage Church at Hochlantsch.

A pilgrimage site steeped in history

The Schüsserlbrunn pilgrimage church has always been a popular destination, accessible only on foot; this hike begins in Breitenau am Hochlantsch.

The small wooden church in Schüsserlbrunn seems to cling right to the Hochlantsch cliff face. For centuries, the faithful have made pilgrimages here; it is said to offer relief, especially for eye ailments. The name of this place derives from the bowl-shaped indentations in the rock where the water from the healing spring is collected. The church has undergone several renovations and was ultimately moved several meters in 1974 due to the threat of a rockslide.

Between May and October, services are held regularly in the church, and the church is open during those times. At other times, the owner of the "Steirischer Jokl" keeps the church key.
