Content that is not accessible
The content listed below is not accessible for the following reasons:
a. Non-compliance with accessibility requirements
- Keyboard Navigation & Focus Indicator:Some interactive elements cannot yet be fully controlled using the keyboard or lack an adequate focus indicator.
- Missing alternative text for images:Some images do not yet have alt text.
- Low color contrast:Due to corporate identity (CI) design guidelines, certain text-to-background contrasts are insufficient.
- Complex language:In some cases, technical terms and complex sentence structures are used that may not be understandable to all users.
b. Disproportionate burden
- Accessible PDFs: Some PDF documents do not yet fully meet the requirements for accessible documents. Revising all existing documents at this time would represent a disproportionate burden. New documents are created to be accessible whenever possible.
- Audio Descriptions for Videos: Not all videos currently have audio descriptions or complete captions.
c. The content does not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions
- Archived Documents & Content: PDF files and multimedia content published before June 28, 2025, are considered archived and are exempt from the requirements.
External Content and Embedded Third-Party Services: Our website is technically managed by the agency Crosseye Marketing GmbH. In addition, some embedded content—such as hiking maps, cycling maps, and other interactive maps —comes from Contwise Maps and is automatically imported via their system. This third-party content (e.g., maps, social media feeds, or plugins) is beyond our direct control and is not subject to the same legal requirements regarding accessibility. However, we strive to ensure that the solutions we implement—including those in collaboration with partners—are as accessible as possible.

Enforcement Proceedings
If you are not satisfied with the responses you receive through the contact option listed above, you may file a complaint with the Complaints Office of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints electronically via theComplaints Office’s contact form.
The FFG reviews the complaints to determine whether they relate to violations of the provisions of the Web Accessibility Act—in particular, failures to comply with accessibility requirements—by the federal government or an institution under its jurisdiction.
If the complaint is justified, the FFG must issue recommendations for action to the federal government or the relevant legal entities and propose measures designed to remedy the existing deficiencies.
