Restaurant, Ponds & Smokehouse

"All for the fish" is the motto at the Kulmer seafood restaurant. All seafood lovers feel right at home here. The menu features creative, delicious dishes prepared primarily with fish caught in the restaurant’s own ponds. Regional and seasonal ingredients add a special touch to the cuisine. From family celebrations and romantic dinners for two to business meals and even a stop on a motorcycle tour—everyone is warmly welcome at Kulmer!

The Smokehouse:
It all began back then with a few fish ponds and a homemade smokehouse. Back then, just as today, the trout were smoked and served in the restaurant. Today, production extends far beyond trout and salmon, and the company is known throughout the Austrian retail sector for its flexibility and focus on regional products.

The Pond Facilities:
In the fish farm, the fish are Almenland in crystal-clear mountain water from the Almenland Nature Park until they are ready for consumption. Franz Kulmer personally cares for his fish with great dedication.

The fish smokehouse opened in 2009 and covers an area of approximately 3,000 square meters. With a staff of just 35, the facility processes approximately 800 metric tons of raw fish—including trout, char, salmon trout, salmon, catfish, and carp—in accordance with the highest standards of purity.
