Our natural jewels
No, a nature park is not the opposite of a city park! Nature park is more: a distinctive habitat with an impressive landscape, useful for people and a good place for plants and animals.
The 125 connected individual Alpine pastures in the Almenland Nature Park make up the largest managed Alpine pasture area in Europe. There are also gorges, ravines and a whole range of different caves. The Raabklamm gorge and the Kirchkogel near Pernegg are even Natura 2000 areas and are therefore specially protected.
The greatest treasures of the Almenland are our nature park jewels, natural beauties or places of power that have developed through centuries of interaction between nature and man! These jewels show the beauty and uniqueness of the nature park. Our jewels, two gorges(Bärenschützklamm and Raabklamm), a high moor and an orchid meadow, are not only worth seeing, but reach and impress visitors on all levels.
