In the Footsteps of the Miners

Visitors to the Arzberg Show Mine get a glimpse into a world that remains hidden from most people. Deep inside the mountain, tunnels, shafts, and rock chambers tell the story of a time when miners searched for valuable ores here under often difficult conditions.

The tour takes visitors through the historic Raab Tunnel, past the dies and the Erbstollen. At a constant temperature of 10 °C, visitors gain a fascinating insight into the world of underground work and learn just how arduous mining was in past centuries.

The Arzberg Show Tunnel is also interesting from a modern perspective—a seismographic station inside the mountain can measure earth movements from far away, and right next door, in the “Franz-Leopold Tunnel,” cheese wheels are aged to perfection.

  • Guided Tour of the Historic Mine
  • Fascinating Insights into the World of Miners
