Swimming Fun, Adventure, and Relaxation

With a water surface area of approximately 40 hectares, Lake Stubenberg is one of the largest and warmest swimming lakes in the state. Here, you can sunbathe on the lush, green meadow or relax on the “beach,” along the shore, or on one of the many swimming piers.

Stubenbergsee is open year-round; during the swimming season, from late May through late August, there is an admission fee.
You can find the admission prices and opening hours here.

A Paradise for Families
Families, in particular, feel right at home at Stubenbergsee. Children can play on the sandy beach , explore the sunken pirate ship , or let off steam on the 60-meter-long water slide . Small rocky islets, a lighthouse in the shallow water area, and plenty of play options ensure that boredom is never an issue.

For older children and teens, there are diving platforms, floating islands, and plenty of space to splash around and explore.

Active Around the Lake
If you enjoy being active, you’ll find plenty of options at Stubenbergsee. The roughly three-kilometer-long loop trail is perfect for walking, running, biking, or inline skating , and offers beautiful views of the lake at every turn.

The scenery is also wonderful to enjoy from the water. Whether you’re taking it easy in a pedal boat or on a tour aboard an electric boat—the view of the lake and the surrounding rolling hills is always something special.

Our Tip

A visit to Lake Stubenberg can be perfectly combined with a trip to the wildlife park and Herberstein Castle. While lions, cheetahs, and tales of knights await you in the morning, one of Austria’s warmest swimming lakes offers the perfect way to cool off in the afternoon. This will turn your day trip into an unforgettable vacation day in Eastern Styria.

For those looking for a quick bite, there are numerous restaurants and kiosks open to guests.
