From the Nature Park to Upper Styria

The Eibegg Loop starts in Pernegg an der Mur, right next to the Frauenkirche, and first takes you along the Murradweg R2 across the river toward Bruck an der Mur. The flat, almost endless ride along the bike path is perfect for getting into a rhythm and starting the day at a leisurely pace.

From Bruck, the route follows the Mürztal R5 Bike Trail through gentle floodplain landscapes and quiet villages all the way to Allerheiligen in the Mürztal. This is where the more challenging part of the loop begins: via quiet local roads and past fields, the route gradually climbs up to the Eibeggsattel—a beautiful ascent that rewards riders with varied views of the surrounding mountains.

After passing the saddle and the village of St. Jakob-Breitenau, you head back until you rejoin the Murradweg R2 at Mautstatt. You’ll then cycle leisurely back to Pernegg along this route, where the loop comes full circle. Along the way, it’s worth taking a break to stop at traditional inns or cafés—especially on warm days, when shaded spots along the Mur River will help you recharge.
