Created with a chainsaw and passion
The Wooden Sculpture Trail along the Nechnitz River combines the enjoyment of nature with authentic craftsmanship. This themed trail was created thanks to the passion of Erich Haider-Harrer, a restaurateur and farmer who uses his chainsaw to create impressive wooden sculptures.
Starting at the Haider Alpine Farm, the approximately 2.7-kilometer-long loop trail leads uphill toward Gschaid-Nock. Along the route, more than 45 lovingly carved wooden figures —mostly native wildlife—accompany hikers. The trail also features cozy rest areas, an “energy fountain,” and informational signs.
Once you reach the highest point, an impressive panoramic view of the Almenland unfolds before you. From here, the view extends to the Rote Wand, the Hochlantsch, the Sommeralm, and all the way to the Schöckl. A panoramic map makes it easy to identify the surrounding peaks.
The Wooden Sculpture Trail is a diverse destination for families, nature lovers, and anyone who wants to experience art in the midst of nature.
