Between Mountain Farms and Folk Music

The somewhat unusual name comes from the trail’s destination, the “Pullerbauern” farmstead! This farm is just one of many scattered across the steep slopes around Gasen. With a great deal of manual labor and considerable effort, the slopes here—in Styria’s steepest municipality —are cultivated.

Gasen is also known as the “village of music.” It’s not just the well-known folk music group "Die Stoakogler" hails from the village; with the “Stoanihaus” right in the center, Gasen also has a music school that caters specifically to adults and is well-known far and wide. Music is very much a part of life here; every year on August 15, the “Musikirtag” takes place, featuring performances by music groups from Gasen and the surrounding area.
