The Schöckl, one of the higher peaks in the Graz Mountains, is a popular recreational area for the people of Graz. There are not only several hiking trails leading up the mountain, but also a cable car. Once at the top, there are several options for further physical activities, and there is also a wide variety of culinary offerings.

Active on the Schöckl

This relatively short and leisurely trail begins at the Schöcklkreuz, which is already over 1,000 meters above sea level, and offers several beautiful views along the way of the Almenland Nature Park, Semriach, and down toward St. Radegund. The family-friendly trail can be hiked year-round, though in snow and ice, appropriate gear is required.

Road Conditions

The loop hike follows mostly well-maintained hiking trails, forest paths, and short stretches of road. The trail is technically easy but has an elevation gain of about 390 meters and is suitable for families with children who are experienced hikers, as well as for leisure hikers in good physical condition. In case of snow or ice, appropriate winter gear is required.
