Panoramic Hike from Almenland Apfelland
From Brandlucken meadows and through forests, down to the beautiful market town of Anger—with magnificent views all along the way!
The Brandlucken is the eastern gateway to the alpine pasture region, though it itself is already situated at over 1,000 m above sea level. The village is dominated by the open-air stage of the Huab’n Theater, which stages classic Austrian comedies here during the summer months. The trail first leads along the "HeilBrunnWeg" out to the “Mautmini Chapel.” The trail continues past beautiful farmsteads to the “Offnerkreuz.” We’ve long since been on the “Almenland , ” which takes its name from the magnificent views stretching far into the East Styrian countryside. Since the Königskogel summit is completely overgrown, we’ll bypass it. Immediately afterward, we reach the village of Sallegg; unfortunately, the Obi-Hansl Hut is now closed.
The trail then continues through the rolling hills around Rossegg and down to Steg. The final stretch of the trail runs along the Feistritz River to the center of Anger. There, hikers will find a parish church worth seeing and several places to stop for a bite to eat.
