Enjoying Nature Between Koglhof and Sallegg

Koglhof

A varied loop hike from Koglhof via St. Georgen and Sallegg. You’ll enjoy scenic high-altitude trails, idyllic farms, shady forests, and plenty of options for day trips.

Panoramic hike with stunning views

The hiking trail follows a wide arc from Koglhof up to Sallegg and back again along the other side of the Almenland.

The route starts at the summer toboggan run, where there’s also a place to stop for a bite to eat. From there, the trail heads out to St. Georgen, with its church well worth seeing, and on to Aschau, a beautiful village with magnificent farmhouses. That’s where the climb through the forest up to Sallegg begins. Unfortunately, the Obi Hansl Hut is no longer open there, so there’s currently no place to stop for a bite to eat along this stretch.

On the country road, we keep to the left and head back down to Koglhof. The final stretch of the trail leads along the forest nature trail and the Way of the Cross into the town center. Passing the parish church, we return to the starting point at the summer toboggan run/GH Rodelstub'n.

Combine your hike with a visit to the summer toboggan run or the Motorikpark. The Oswald/Schaffer Vinegar Factory is also located in Rossegg. Here, you can sample a wide variety of vinegars made with regional fruits and herbs.
