A varied loop hike from the village of Gasen, known for its music, via the Haberlstall Alm, the Sommeralm, and the scenic Plankogel—featuring magnificent panoramic views and rustic places to stop for refreshments.

From Musidorf to the Alpine Pasture

The Haberlstall Loop connects the musical village of Gasen—home of the Stoakogler—with the Sommeralm and the popular Plankogel.

The route starts right in the center of Gasen and continues via the Pöllabauerkreuz to the Haberlstall-Alm, where an alpine hut has stood for many years. Since it has been open to the public for several years now, it offers the perfect spot for a rest or a break. The Haberlstall-Alm hut is closed during the winter.

From there, the trail continues to the Sommeralm, past the wind turbine, and up to the Plankogel. We’ll also pass the Stoakoglhütte, which is another perfect spot to stop for a break. On the way back to Gasen, we’ll also pass the Stoani Welttrum.

Back in Gasen at the starting point, there are also plenty of places to stop for a bite to eat.

Gasen Town Center

Free parking is available in the town center and at the Gasen sports field.

Road Conditions

The hike follows well-marked trails, alpine paths, forest trails, logging roads, and short paved sections. With an elevation gain of about 780 meters and a walking time of about five and a half hours, a good level of basic fitness is required. The ascent to the Plankogel is steeper, but you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view.

Part of the route passes through alpine pastureland. Please observe the rules of conduct when encountering grazing livestock.
