Wooden Ladders & a Romantic Waterfall

The Kesselfall Gorge is one of the most popular hiking destinations in the Graz area. The varied loop trail leads from the Sandwirt Inn through the wild and romantic gorge to the foot of the Schöckl’s western slope and back via Glett.

Wooden ladders, bridges, and roaring waterfalls make this hike an unforgettable nature experience, especially for families with older children. A worthwhile detour also leads to the impressive Steintor, a striking natural rock formation.

Brief description of the route:
The hike begins at the Sandwirt Inn and leads uphill through the Kesselfallklamm gorge to the municipal road. From there, the loop follows either the shorter R6 trail or the R6a variant, which offers better views and a stop for refreshments at the Theißlwirt. Both trails rejoin at Glett and lead through the beech forest back to the starting point at the Sandwirt Inn.
