From the Nechnitz Plateau to the Teichalm
The trail leads from the Nechnitz Plateau up to the Teichalm—where many sights and lovely places to stop for a break await.
The trail begins on the Nechnitz high plateau and leads past the scenic Hubenhalt up to the Teichalm. The lovely Nechnitz is particularly impressive due to its location between Roter Wand and Schöckl. At the Teichalm, the Teichalmsee awaits with all it has to offer—from boat tour on the lake to a hike around it or a rest by the water. A walk through the Teichalm Moor is also well worth it; the trail through the moor takes about 20 minutes, is easy to walk on the newly redesigned wooden boardwalk, and ends at the “Holzochsen” by the lake. The return route then leads past the Gerlerkreuz and the Hintereben district with its farmsteads, back to the Nechnitz River.
This hike from the Nechnitz can also be easily combined with the Wooden Sculpture Trail; the best way to do this is to start right at the trailhead, hike up to the Gschaid-Nock, and from there head toward Teichalm (Trails 2 & 740).
