Private Rooms at the Mayor's House

In 1991–1992, the building was constructed to serve as the mayor’s office and municipal secretariat. The building served this purpose until 2015, acting as the municipal office for the villages of Haslau, Koglhof, Waisenegg, and Gschaid. Following the municipal merger with the larger municipality of Birkfeld, the “mayor’s house” was decommissioned. In 2018, the Kulmer family purchased it.

Just a three-minute walk fromthe Kulmer seafood restaurant, the Kulmers have renovated the former Haslau community center and created four cozy double rooms for you.

"All for the fish"—that's the Kulmer family's motto. Whether it's Kulmer's curry fish soup, salmon trout maki, or perhaps the traditional house-style trout: at Kulmer's seafood restaurant, you'll find everything a fish lover could want.

In this family home, built in 1722, the art of cooking has been passed down from generation to generation, and guests are treated to a blend of traditional Kulmer recipes and Far Eastern seafood specialties. From family celebrations and romantic dinners for two to business meals and even a stopover while traveling by motorcycle or bicycle: anyone looking for great fish is welcome at the Kulmers’. Four cozy rooms are available for overnight stays at the Bürgermeisterhaus.

The fish smokehouse opened in 2009 and covers an area of approximately 3,000 square meters. With a staff of just 35, the facility processes approximately 800 metric tons of raw fish—including trout, char, salmon trout, salmon, catfish, and carp—in accordance with the highest standards of purity.
