A Trip Through the Almenland Nature Park
The hike begins at the Stoakogl Hut, which is known for its down-to-earth cuisine, but above all for its alpine breakfast. From there, the trail leads up to the Plankogel, which immediately rewards hikers for their initial efforts with a panoramic view.
If you’d like to refuel along the way, stop by the Haberlstall-Alm or the Stoahandhütte —the fresh dishes, in particular, are well worth the indulgence.
After a break, the trail continues on to the next peak, the Heulantsch, which connects the Teichalm and the Sommeralm—a network comprising a total of about 125 alpine pastures.
Then the route descends toward Teichalmsee, where you’ll also find the Moor Nature Trail is located. Here, you can learn a lot about the flora and fauna in Austria’s last mountain pine high moor. There are also several establishments where you can stop for refreshments after the hike, such as the Latschenhütte and the Almgasthof Teichwirt, right on Lake Teichalm. These establishments also entice visitors with regional dishes and homemade pastries.
